Caregiver Support and Alzheimer’s (with Matt Yaroch)

Matt Yaroch, CMO for I-Ally, is not in midlife. But what he shares can and likely will affect us all in some way. In our conversation, we discuss several things I was not aware of:

  • It’s not just midlifers who find themselves with caregiving responsibilities. 1 in 4 millennials are caregivers for parents or grandparents.
  • Alzheimer’s is a leading cause of death in the US.
  • Early onset Alzheimer’s can affect those as young as their early 50s.

I think of myself as someone who stays informed but was aware of none of these things and am amazed that they aren’t a part of the national conversation. It raises some huge questions.

What if you find yourself in a caregiver role, where can you turn for help? What are the challenges? What if you’re the one who someday needs caregiving from your kids?

Matt is not a health care expert. Rather, he approaches the conversation from his experiences has a care provider and his role supporting caregivers.
